CHANGES AT
REAL-N-REEL FILMS
Real-n-Reel Films have undergone many changes in the past year and is continuing to take steps to create more inclusive and representative voices through storytelling.
Real-n-Reel Films Production Inc. began solely as any other regular Incorporated production company by our founder and owner Daraksha in 2019 during her time at Toronto film school, but over the last three years, it has found its platform, people and community that wants to make a difference in society. RNR films aim to continue making a difference through films and initiatives.
OUR STORY
HOW WE STARTED?
Real-n-Reel films was founded in 2019.
Founder/Owner Daraksha Rehman could not see the voices or representations similar to hers growing up as an Immigrant child and as she struggled almost all her life trying to fit into this “western culture, as she sought a sense of belonging and identity.”
As a Young Filmmaker, she was always interested in showcasing underrepresented stories that had meaning to them, had never been addressed deeply within communities, and deserved to be told right. Being part of this BIPOC cinema, she feels that so many diverse experiences and stories contribute to storytelling because of our stories’ complicacy. She aims to continue her social work career by bridging her films to Advocacy. She wanted to push certain boundaries, contribute to making a difference, advocate for deep-rooted issues, and use her platform as a filmmaker.
